BACK TO KATE: REVISING THE STORY

This is the first draft of a spread later in the book with the train coming out of a long tunnel into a snowstorm. At the time, I was picturing a freight car carrying backhoes and diggers, but they ended up on the cutting room floor.

Got LOW-RIDERS loaded with GREAT BIG DIGGERS.
STAY PUT, DIGGERS!
I can PLOW right through it –
CAR? Can’t do it --
Nothin’ to it for a FREIGHT TRAIN!
Chooka, chooka, chooka, chooka…
Outta the DARK into the—
SNOW!
So?
I PLOW right through it!
Car? Can’t do it—
Nothin’ to it for a FREIGHT TRAIN.
Choo-ka    choo-ka     choo-ka    choo-ka
